I started to write to escape the problems and pains of my childhood. It was my only escape!” said Steve Simpson. Author Steve Simpson grew up with much of the same problems as some of the characters in the book. Steve started writing when he was very young. Runaway itself originally came from an idea Steve had when he was just a boy.

Steve has been a public speaker locally and nationally as an expert of experience to help young adults survive their various problems and issues growing up (dysfunctional/abusive homes, runaways, suicide, single parent households, economic problems, and depression and self esteem issues).

Steve has been FEATURED ON national media including Montel Williams, Sally Jesse Raphael, Gordon Elliot, Ricki Lake, Maury Povich, NBC Network News, Joe Franklin, and Geraldo.

For the past 23 years Steve has run a youth/young adult group called "Together We Can Make It" sharing his experiences and giving support to its members.

Steve's writings have the fictional advantage of excitement and adventure but are always so crisp and powerfully realistic in their drama.
